About Us

Bethany Spencer, MA, CCC-SLP, founded Play Together Speech Therapy as an avenue of continuing services to families she had previously served through Early Intervention. Recognizing the concerns of those transitioning out of the program and preferring to avoid the burdened public school system, Bethany saw an opportunity to provide tailored services and a smoother transition for these families. Her practice grew through the power of client referrals and personal recommendations.

Ms. Bethany is a Florida-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association.  She is trained in Natural Language Acquisition for Gestalt Language Processors and also specializes in language and speech sound disorders.  She is proud to be a Step Up for Students (FES-UA) scholarship provider.

If I could give more stars I would. This speech language pathologist is thorough and helpful beyond the time she spends working with your child. There were countless leave behind recommended activities which were curtailed to our child's specific desires and not just needs. One example is the dry erase marker. Bethany (the therapist) would show up with the papers laminated so our daughter had interest in doing the work with her speech. She also brought options via games and would let our kiddo pick what she wanted to do and her bag was like an open gift for our child to dig through what Bethany brought with her that day. Even if the session started off with our daughter being uncooperative because sometimes 3 year olds are that way, Bethany would sit down and get into our daughter's world so to speak and get her engaged. I could go on and on with examples but I think any potential parent looking for an SLP understands where I am heading with this review. Our daughter has had multiple therapists in the home since she was 18 months old. She just graduated from speech therapy with Bethany yesterday and she is turning 4 in two months. We met Bethany through Early Steps and moved onto self pay with Bethany and then onto the FES UA scholarship (she is conveniently a pre approved provider in the EMA portal so billing was easy through FES UA). We had one session with Bethany through Early Steps before our daughter was discharged/aged out of Early Steps at 3 years old and it was clearly noticed just in that first encounter with Bethany that she had a way with kids that our previous therapists did not which was why we opted to stay with her and pay out of pocket. Bethany encouraged us and gave us information for the FES UA scholarship and after a few months we were able to receive funding thanks to her printouts and pointing us in a good direction. With FES UA we were able to increase the amount of sessions to twice weekly with Bethany and our daughter progressed. After years of things going on and wondering if we were ever going to get our daughter "up to speed", she is now developmentally appropriate for her age. We were emotional for the little graduation ceremony with Bethany, but there were moments as parents that we were ready to give up on therapy prior to meeting Bethany because we felt it just wasn't working and we were not seeing any improvement for a while there. If you are on here looking at reviews and have any inkling you should try a different therapist to see if there is a chance, do not give up. I shudder at the thought that we almost declined the final session with Early Steps thinking one more session with one more "new" person was not going to make a difference. That almost cost us never meeting Bethany.

Ms Bethany is the BEST! We had previously been going to a SLP facility with many therapists and there was a lot of inconsistencies that came with a high turnover rate of therapists coupled with shorter sessions causing slow progress for my daughter. Ms Bethany to the rescue! She comes to your house (or can meet you somewhere convenient) to work with your child through play for an hour session. She is kind, easy to work with and has a knack for interacting with children. My daughter adores her. The consistency and quality of therapy with Ms Bethany has been night and day difference for my daughter. If you're looking for the best SLP in town, give her a call!!
