Articulation and Phonological Disorders
Articulation and phonological disorders are speech sound disorders where a child has difficulty producing sounds correctly or substituting one sound for another, like lateral lisps and substituting "wing" for "ring". It can also involve omitting a sound, adding a sound, or distorting a sound. Articulation and phonological disorders can make speech difficult to understand and may impact communication. Some articulation and phonological errors are developmentally appropriate... up to a certain age. Speech sound therapy might use flashcards for target sounds, but Ms. Bethany always incorporates them into PLAY!
